Selected Artist: KARL FECHNER

German-born artist Karl Fechner’s bronzes have become canvasses for his innovative and striking patinas.

Fechner, a 1973 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, taught art for 12 years in Wyoming and worked for Valley Bronze at its foundry in Joseph for five years before devoting his time to his own art. He has utilized all of his training to create bronzes that he finishes in a personal and unique style.

“The reason that people cast in bronze is because it is the only metal that will take a patina,” said Fechner. “I draw on my years of experience as a sculptor and foundry man to try to create strong compositions that lend themselves to my painterly, splashy patinas.”
